Knives and folks at the ready, British Pie Week is about to begin! Starting from Monday 6th to Sunday 12th March, the nation will rejoice in eating pies. Although it’s spring, it’s still quite cold and so we are using that as a great excuse to put those diets on hold and treat ourselves to our favourite pie to warm us up… The good news is that the GB Hospitality team are not the only pie lovers in the UK with Jus Rol revealing that a massive 75% of us will eat a pie once a month. We did a bit of research to find out more about pie week and to see what really is the best filling around... What is British Pie Week and when did it begin? It first began back in 2007 in March and was originally Jus Rol’s idea on celebrating the pie. However, as it was so successful, it became a bit of a phenonium with many people wanting to get involved with it - and ever since has been a feature in every food lover's calendar. Across the country, bakers, butchers, restaurants and pubs are all taking part by selling and serving a selection of different pies. What are the best rated pies? If you head over to the British Pie Week’s blog, you’ll find that there are an impressive 600 pies listed on the site which have all been ranked. But, alas, the nation has spoken. It was 20 feet in diameter and weighed 3669 pounds and the crust was made from 440 sheets of dough. Well, all this pie talk is making us very hungry.
