Many of you might not be aware of how Father’s Day evolved, so we thought we’d share with you a his couple of facts - and of course, some of the best gifts to spoil your dad with this year!
History of Father’s Day
The majority of people think that Mother’s Day and Father’s Day came in hand in hand, but in actual fact, Father’s Day was a more recent concept, unlike Mother’s Day that dates back hundreds of years. As story goes, the day was marked by Grace Golden Clayton in 1908 following a mine explosion in Fairmont, West Virginia which sadly killed over 360 men, leaving sons and daughters without a dad. Clayton realised the need, and love for these men by their families and began campaigning for a day to celebrate Father’s. Two years later in 1910, sons and daughters would wear roses to church which represented their love and admiration for their father - a red rose represented a living father, and a white rose to a deceased.
