Everyone is talking about it, and preparations are well and truly underway for the 15 day long celebration that will begin this weekend and finish on March 2nd. In the hospitality world, hoteliers, restaurants and bars are jumping on board with the celebrations to offer their guests a true experience of China. What is Chinese New Year? Chinese New Year means the start of the new year which begins on the second new moon which falls after the winter solstice that ends on the full moon - 15 days later. The lunar calendar is represented by 12 animal signs in Chinese Zodiac with every 12 years regarded as a new cycle. This year, the Year of the Rooster will give way to the Year of the Dog.
