Food. We dream about it. We spend hours a day on Instagram looking at food posts. We spend plenty of hours in the kitchen - or dining out - enjoying tastes of the world. And it’s great. As times and lifestyles have changed, so have food trends. If you’ve been following our blog for a while, you’ll may have already we’ve touched on topics such as types of foods that are trending - and how behaviour in restaurants have changed due to social media - yes, we are talking about those people who you might spot standing on the seat to get the PERFECT flat lay pic of their meal. More people today are all about changing food habits, and trying something new to really please those taste buds. We’d say in the last year or so, there’s been a rise of people shopping for their normal foods a bit differently - and ditching supermarkets such as Asda and Tesco to go in search of something new and exciting. We’ve taken a look at how you could be buying your spuds this year… Food Halls & Markets If you’ve been to cities such as Liverpool and Manchester recently, you’ll find there’s an increase in food halls and markets selling fresh, locally sourced products which boom come the weekend. It’s one way of keeping things independent, giving back to the community and also a chance to try something new. Being local With healthy eating, veganism and keeping smaller, independent business alive, there is set to be an increase of keeping it local - whether that’s buying your vegetables at the local farm or fresh meat from the butchers at the top of the street. Home delivery innovation Cities like Rotterdam are currently trailing ways to get home delivery collected and shipped out to customers in less than two hours. Why? Because of the lifestyle that we now lead in 2018, the customer does not want to wait for a day for their shopping to be delivered. And with the threat from Amazon and its drones, now is the time that retailers must act fast! What food buying trends do you think we will encounter in 2018? Let us know over on Twitter #GBLOVES
