Summer is nearly here - and we can’t wait! The sun will be shining, the nights will feel like they are never-ending, and you’ll find yourself sipping on an ice cold drink to cool down. In the summer, the GB Team love nothing better than drives in the countryside, up and down those winding roads, stumbling across hidden country pubs that are perfect for a light bite to eat. Here’s some of the loveliest, local country pubs that we’d recommend!
The Saracens Head, Halsall
Overlooking the Leeds - Liverpool canal you’ll find the beautiful Saracens Head which has been opened for over 100 years. With a menu containing local produce, it’s perfect for a taste of the countryside it’s surrounded by. Their lunch and dinner menu has plenty of choice...and the fish and chips are out of this world. There’s an amazing selection of beers, both local and regional for you to choose from, with a wonderful team who will make you feel welcomed from the moment you step in. Take a seat outside on a sunny day and relax, and with barges passing you by, there’s nothing more perfect than having a cider while embracing the bliss of the Lancashire countryside.
The White Crow, Wigan
Dating back to the 16th century, The White Crow was first opened as a coaching house for those passing by where they could rest and enjoy a refreshment. Fast forward to today, and it’s still got the same values, welcoming those from the local area and further afield for its delicious homemade food that’s perfect for those with big appetites! Inside the decor is rustic, but still very stunning - and although it;s great for the summer nights, the winter nights are just as cosy snuggled up by its log fire.
The Pheasant Inn, Cheshire
Cheshire has a wide selection of beautiful country pubs, and it can be hard to choose one! One of our favourites is The Pheasant Inn which is located in Peckforton Hills,. It’s perfect for those who may have spent the day rambling, or those just looking for somewhere to make the most of the nice weather! It’s extremely peaceful, and offers some of the most amazing views over the countryside which is perfect when the sun is out! The menu tends to change daily here to ensure visitors are enjoying the freshest produce they can.
