Bank Holiday! A whole extra day away from the desk to spend with your loved ones. However you see fit. For many it’s a day lounging around, chilling in the house while for many more it’s about getting as much done as possible with the whole extra 24 hours lovingly given to us by our government… So as we are only a week away, we are already putting the out of office on and making plans for the long weekend ahead. We don’t want to jinx things but the weather is looking “OK” which means the region is your oyster if you’re looking for a fantastic day out. Arley Hall For those who have just finished the latest TV binge, and are looking for something new, we’d definitely recommend Peaky Blinders. No spoilers, but it’s essentially about a group of Birmingham gangsters working their way up in the world and stars the gorgeous Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy (no more needs to be said). And with all great TV shows, this one features some fantastic locations filmed across our very own North West. Arley Halls is one right on the doorstep which offers the most beautiful gardens to explore - whether it’s a romantic walk with your other half or a picnic with the family - or if you’re like us, a place to reenact your favourite peaky blinders scenes… Chester Zoo Okay, okay, it’s an obvious one but the GB team have recently been and it’s absolutely fantastic. If like us, you haven’t been in over a decade (either if you were a kid or had kids to take there) you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the great new attractions, animals, and entertainment that’s now on offer. Our personal favourite are the ‘islands’ inspired by South Asia transporting you a world away into exotic cultures. We enjoyed a lazy boat ride soaking up the sun taking in the sights of beautiful birds, and swinging monkeys. And not to forget the bat cave… Rivington Pike Fresh air, breathtaking views and a country pub for tea - isn’t that what bank holidays are all about? This one’s for the more outdoorsy-types amongst us so get your walking boots on and take in as much of this area of natural beauty as you can. And if you’re into your ghosts and ghouls, the pike is haunted by a headless horseman so don’t stay after dark! (Well, you can really, we’re just scaredy cats)!! What will you be doing this bank holiday weekend? Let us know over on Twitter #GBLOVES
